| In the name of God, the Almighty, the Most Merciful. | Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi | |
| 089:001 | By the dawn. | Waalfajri |
| 089:002 | And the ten nights. | Walayalin AAashrin |
| 089:003 | And the even and the odd. | WaalshshafAAi waalwatri |
| 089:004 | And the night when it passes. | Waallayli itha yasri |
| 089:005 | In this is an oath for the one with intelligence. | Hal fee thalika qasamun lithee hijrin |
| 089:006 | Did you not see what your Lord did to 'Aad? | Alam tara kayfa faAAala rabbuka biAAadin |
| 089:007 | Irum, with the great columns? | Irama thati alAAimadi |
| 089:008 | The one which was like no other in the land? | Allatee lam yukhlaq mithluha fee albiladi |
| 089:009 | And Thamud who carved the rocks in the valley? | Wathamooda allatheena jaboo alssakhra bialwadi |
| 089:010 | And Pharaoh with the planks? | WafirAAawna thee al-awtadi |
| 089:011 | They all transgressed in the land. | Allatheena taghaw fee albiladi |
| 089:012 | And made much corruption therein. | Faaktharoo feeha alfasada |
| 089:013 | So your Lord poured upon them a measure of retribution. | Fasabba AAalayhim rabbuka sawta AAathabin |
| 089:014 | Your Lord is ever watchful. | Inna rabbaka labialmirsadi |
| 089:015 | As for man, if his Lord tests him and grants him much, then he says: "My Lord has blessed me!" | Faamma al-insanu itha ma ibtalahu rabbuhu faakramahu wanaAAAAamahu fayaqoolu rabbee akramani |
| 089:016 | And if his Lord tests him and gives him little wealth, then he says: "My Lord has humiliated me!" | Waamma itha ma ibtalahu faqadara AAalayhi rizqahu fayaqoolu rabbee ahanani |
| 089:017 | No, you are not generous to the orphan. | Kalla bal la tukrimoona alyateema |
| 089:018 | And you do not look to feeding the poor. | Wala tahaddoona AAala taAAami almiskeeni |
| 089:019 | And you consume others inheritance, all with greed. | Wata/kuloona altturatha aklan lamman |
| 089:020 | And you love money, a love that is excessive. | Watuhibboona almala hubban jamman |
| 089:021 | No, when the Earth is pounded into rubble. | Kalla itha dukkati al-ardu dakkan dakkan |
| 089:022 | And your Lord comes with the Angels row after row. | Wajaa rabbuka waalmalaku saffan saffan |
| 089:023 | And Hell on that Day is brought. On that Day man will remember, but how will the remembrance now help him? | Wajee-a yawma-ithin bijahannama yawma-ithin yatathakkaru al-insanu waanna lahu alththikra |
| 089:024 | He says: "I wish I had worked towards my life!" | Yaqoolu ya laytanee qaddamtu lihayatee |
| 089:025 | On that Day, no other will bear his punishment. | Fayawma-ithin la yuAAaththibu AAathabahu ahadun |
| 089:026 | Nor will anyone be able to free his bonds. | Wala yoothiqu wathaqahu ahadun |
| 089:027 | "O you soul which is peaceful." | Ya ayyatuha alnnafsu almutma-innatu |
| 089:028 | "Return to your Lord happy and content." | IrjiAAee ila rabbiki radiyatan mardiyyatan |
| 089:029 | "And enter in amongst My servants." | Faodkhulee fee AAibadee |
| 089:030 | "And enter My Paradise." | Waodkhulee jannatee |
