Pasig City MCW Sports is a Filipino professional basketball team based in Pasig. The team currently competes in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) as one of 11 active teams based in Metro Manila. Pasig City is also one of four teams based in the Eastern Manila District, playing their home games at Ynares Sports Arena.

The team began play as the Pasig Blue Pirates in the Metropolitan Basketball Association (MBA) from 1998 to 2000. They joined the MPBL in the 2018–19 season.[1] Since the 2022 MPBL playoffs, the team has been sponsored by MCW Sports, an online sports news portal in the Philippines.[2]

History

Metropolitan Basketball Association (1998–2000)

Pasig's basketball franchise was established in 1998 with the Pasig Blue Pirates of the Metropolitan Basketball Association. In 1999, the team was named as the Pasig-Rizal Pirates and would remain in the league until 2000.

Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (2018–present)

The Pirates then returned to Philippine basketball in 2018, when they became one of sixteen teams that were part of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League's national expansion for its 2018–19 season.
