Kurukundi Gopinath (born 24 January 1962) currently holds the position of principal at SDM College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad (SDMCET).[1] He was a associate professor at department of mechanical engineering in SDMCET.[2] He pursued his Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and then went on to pursue his Master's in same branch in 1987, He earned his PhD from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU).

Academic career

Dr. K. Gopinath serves as the chairman of the Academic Council of SDMCET. The Academic Council of the college is headed by the Principal. Student enrollments, academics, assessments and examinations are managed by the respective deans.[3][4] Under his leadership SDM College of Engineering and Technology was ranked 20th best private engineering college in India by Outlook,[5] and was ranked 'A+' grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).[6] In 2020 just before taking charge as principal he was vice principal of SDMCET.
