It's Showdown is a dance competition airing as a segment of the noon time show, It's Showtime that premiered on October 30, 2023.[1][2][3]

Format

This segment features the so-called "Classic Showtime" format: dance groups from around the Philippines battle and show off their dance skills in the "Showdance Arena" vying to become the segment's grand champion. It is open to all dance groups: all boys, all girls, all LGBTQ+, or mixed, and all ages 16 and up. Creativity, execution, and overall impact are the judging criteria.

The competition consists of three rounds: daily rounds, weekly finals, and grand finals. The length of the segments has been reduced for unknown reasons. Throughout the competition, there were no monthly finals or semi-finals rounds.

Before the results are revealed, the audience is asked which group they believe has the best performance for that round. Furthermore, the hosts choose an audience member at random to express their feelings about the group.

Following each group's performance in each round, the judges' average scores are revealed, and in the second round, both the average scores from the second round and the combined scores from both first and second rounds are revealed.

Each group receives a maximum average score of five points during each round, with a total of ten points available to a group during a round.

Daily Rounds

There are two stages of the Daily Rounds: the Hatawan-on-One round and the "Dance Showdown" round.

  • Hatawan-on-One Round: Each group's representative competes against the other.
  • Dance Showdown: All members of each group, including the previous round's representative, will perform their dance.
  • Solo Dance Showdown: Only required if the scores of both groups are equal. A representative from each group will be chosen at random from a fish bowl.

Weekly Finals

On Saturday (weeks 1 to 4) and on Friday (week 5), those who win during the daily rounds will compete to earn a spot in the grand finals. As with the daily rounds, the criteria is still the same for the weekly finals.

  • Pair-Dagulan Round: Each group sends two representatives to compete against the other.
  • Dance Showdown: All members of each group, including the previous round's representative, will perform their dance. All groups will perform based on the day they have won (for example, the first group to perform is the group that won on Monday, the second on Tuesday, and so on).
  • Solo Dance Showdown: Only required if the scores of two or more groups are equal. A representative from each group will be chosen at random from a fish bowl.

The group with the highest combined scores after two rounds will receive ₱30,000 and proceeds to the grand finals, while the losing groups will receive ₱10,000.

Note that only three dance groups advanced to the weekly finals on the second week of daily rounds due to the timeslot being allotted for Magpasikat 2023.

Vivacious, the winning team from Wednesday, November 15, chose not to compete in this round for unknown reasons.

Grand Finals: Ang Huling Hataw

Dubbed as Ang Huling Hataw (lit. 'The Last Dance'), the Grand Finals is set to be held on December 2, 2023, after 33 days of competition. The five groups that advanced on the weekly finals will battle one last time to become It's Showdown's grand champion. The format and prize for the grand finals has yet to be revealed on a later date.

  1. ↑ Following the cease-and-desist order against ABS-CBN's free-to-air assets, the show moved to Kapamilya Channel, with simulcast on A2Z, Jeepney TV, TV5 (July 16, 2022 – June 30, 2023), and GTV (since July 1, 2023).
  2. ↑ Nocturnal Dance Company auditioned first on the sixth season of Pilipinas Got Talent, and received a golden buzzer by judge Robin Padilla. The group eventually reached the finals, finishing sixth place. The group also auditioned on GMA Network's Battle of the Judges, a spin-off show based on Got Talent, where they were assigned on Boy Abunda's team. The group was eliminated on the Battle to the Top round after receiving only one star, losing to Bea Alonzo's squad member, Joseph Erwin Valerio, who replaced Moses Gozun due to the latter's participation on WCOPA 2023.
  3. ↑ Rock A Freakers first entered the competition on November 21, 2023. Kinetix beat the group by 1.7 points. The group re-entered the competition a week later, but lost to Femmelicious Varsity by 1.1 points.
