Import and Merge
Simple Imports
Intellectual Property and the Internet; or An Attempt to Create a Wikibook for þe SOPA Blackout and Times Þereafter
With Wikipedia going blacked out for SOPA, I began a project to choose a set of articles to create stable versions of, to distribute to family and friends in the states, explaining the issue. The goal of course is to be inform, they need to know more than why Wikimedia is threatened by SOPA, they need to know what it means, and why people support it in the first place. And they need to know where it comes from.
Then it occurred to me that in what I'm trying to do: dewikifying a select set of articles and creating stable versions, means that I am attempting to create a book. And that if I made it on Wikibooks, rather than as a pdf file people have to read linearly, I would be able to provide people a lot more choice, while still focusing on the issue that SOPA raises.
And so, I would like to make a possibly unorthodox request, for the import of the following articles, as I attempt to make an booklet of dewikified articles in time for the big blackout. I think the following list is enough, together with external and wiktionary links to give people a general idea.

I know it's a ton (and I commented out several more articles I'd also like, but are at the bottom of my priority list for this book.) So if I can persuade someone to import them, I am incredibly grateful, and don't bother to move them anywhere. (I'd move them around as I try to organize a coherent book.) --Quintucket (discuss • contribs) 04:12, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
- All now completed. You've got your work cut out getting a book written by tomorrow, good luck and please ask for help if you need it QU TalkQu 10:17, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you! I know I've got my work cut out, but I've cleared my schedule starting from after dinner (Turkish time, so it still leaves me about 12 hours. Help is of course appreciated, though I know that you're quite a busy fellow. I'm certain I can get at least the most important parts done; I've set out a clear set of rules for myself to ensure I don't work more than I have to, and I'm going to ask for help on Wikipedia. --Quintucket (discuss • contribs) 15:47, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
