Introduction

We will teach how to replace a faulty motherboard by severing its connection to the battery and removing it from the mounts.

    • Place one hand on the toothbrush handle and one on the toothbrush head.

    • Separate the toothbrush head from the body by twisting it in a counter-clockwise direction.

    Is there grease in the chamber that the head comes out of? Or is that old toothpaste gunk?

    That does not tell me how to get the brush out. It doesn’t just pull out gently and I’m afraid to pull so hard I break it.

    The brush assembly just pulls out as shown. There is nothing holding it in place beyond the big plastic ring. The 'hidden' part with the magnets drops into the cavity where it is surrounded by the hidden coil that causes it to vibrate. If there is any drag it is because some toothpaste, etc, may have made its way in, but should not be a problem to simply wiggle. The toothbrush assembly is supposed to be replaced every 3 - 6 months following that same step.

    • Insert the spudger along the seem at the top of the panel.

    • Begin to pry open the panel.

    • Insert the plastic pick at the top of the seam that has already been slightly pried open.

    • Continue down the seam, prying the rest of the panel open with the spudger.

    • Apply a soldering iron to the mount-connectors and copper-wire connectors until the motherboard can be removed.

    • Lift the motherboard straight up.

    I assume that the only thing that can be accomplished with this disassembly is to replace the NiMH batteries. If the toothbrush is otherwise not performing properly (stops performing the periodic timer signal, etc.), then the logic chip is failing and there is no replacement. You could look for a bad solder joint on the board that has vibrated open time.
