Using a drill, drill out enough of the rivet head so that the rivet may be removed.

If the rivet spins, use pliers or a flat head screw driver to hold the rivet in place

Cut spreader strut to 200mm

use a punch to mark the centre of the spreader strut

drill 6mm hole through spreader strut

round end off to replicate the original end, with a file
